Breeding conditions:

Lemmings and other rodents were in depression, buzzards and skuas did not nest. Arctic and red foxes were absent. Judging by records of alarming near broods and fledglings of Golden Plover, Temmink's Stint, Wood Sandpiper, Red-necked Phalarope and Common Stint reproductive success was high.
